Last Goodbyes - Emma Moran (UHS Runner Up)

We said our goodbyes one too many times

Tears in my eyes as I walk down the aisle

Sitting in my seat hugging my knees

Flight attendant asked me to buckle up please

I'll see you soon, it's not forever

I stare out the window as bags pile in

One by one, like the tears that fall from my eyes

Being young and far away

Hurt me more times than I'd like to say

Our moments become more important

Thinking through while we are in the sky

Wanting to call you to say hi

You’re not an absence in my life

Just someone whose moments are forever kept tight

A figure who I look up to

Tires scraping the ground like the moment I leave you

My father who may be far away

Yet close in my heart

Forever he’ll stay
