how high can i go - Rabeyah Nezrin

the same house with different windows and the same walls

the tacky yellow a reminder that stains stick forever

the ceiling stares back with a gaze of pity, for it came with me to the new house

the same stairs i’ll sit on to hear the same arguments downstairs

the walls are too thin and i can hear everyone moving below me

the stove is on and the footsteps are slow, tired, and they stay in the same room for a long time

all that this house has withstood, would it stay the same with one less room occupied

a couple less dishes and a quieter atmosphere

It’s too heavy in this house, i see the ceilings when I’m outside

The sky through the window is blue and the curtains are yellow

and sometimes the clouds don't move
